Researchers from Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy continue to promote science and innovation through direct interactions with students. The program of activities is implemented in the context of a campaign carried out by the Academy of Sciences of Moldova and the Youth Academy of Moldova, with the support of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
Recently, the campaign reached the Gymnasium in the village of Biesti, Orhei district, where Tatiana Malcova, head of the Biobank, scientific researcher in the Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgery Laboratory, assistant professor at Nicolae Anestiadi Department of Surgery no. 1, held an interactive session with over 30 students. Thus, the students had the opportunity to find out the tangencies between science and ordinary life, to discover fascinating fields of biomedical sciences related to tissue regeneration and to learn about testing new treatments in the laboratory, through examples of their application in modern medicine.
Later, on April 30, a group of students from the aforementioned gymnasium visited the Tissue Engineering and Cell Culture Laboratory of Nicolae Testemitanu State University, where they were familiarized with the process of cultivating and preserving living cells in the laboratory, in order to provide access to grafts meant to be implanted in patients suffering from tissue defects, and with the advantages of 3D printing in the educational process and in the bone defect reconstruction practice. The students were guided by University Professor Viorel Nacu, head of the laboratory, and by scientific researchers Vitalie Cobzac and Mariana Jian. Next, the students visited the Museum of Human Anatomy, where they learned more about the structure of the human body and the functions of biological systems.
The science promotion program will be carried out throughout 2025, aiming to develop the young generation's passion for innovation, through direct interactions with researchers from the Republic of Moldova.
